We often get asked “what is a friendly society?” and thought we’d take this opportunity to explain!
A friendly society is a membership-based, not for profit organisation.
Manchester Unity Friendly Society members pay small amounts of money each year (contributions are usually around $2 per week), so that in the future, when our members need study scholarships, affordable family holiday homes, or are faced with financial hardship and need assistance, they receive the returns on their investment.
Our membership provides value over the long term, and by joining our Friendly Society, all our members become part of a supportive community of like-minded Kiwis who simply want to enjoy the good life.
Members enjoy a wide variety of benefits which are exclusively reserved for Manchester Unity Friendly Society members – such as access to holiday homes in Queenstown, Hanmer Springs, Mt Maunganui, Ohope, Nelson and Taupo!
And everyday benefits are easily accessible and provide real value, like our discounted movie passes (just $9 a ticket!) and preferential pricing on baby products (20% off!) and discounted health products, electronics and furniture, as well as partnerships with major retailers like Bunnings, OfficeMax, Beaurepairs and Repco.
Our memberships are designed for the whole family to enjoy, and everyone benefits by being part of our community.
